Kathmandu Valley Cultural Trekking

Kathmandu Valley Cultural Trekking

The Kathmandu Valley Cultural TrekkingTrail is the perfect short trek for those who do not have the time to venture further into the Himalayas. Pack light and head into the forest hills surrounding the valley rim for this culturally rich trek. Kathmandu Valley Cultural Trek displays the best of Nepal’s rural culture, biodiversity and stunning Himalayan views that can be enjoyed with simple preparation and minimal equipment. Kathmandu Valley Cultural Trek begins from Sundarijal, the entrance to Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, a watershed only 30 minutes drive from the centre of Kathmandu. Along the way you will be treated to pristine wilderness and diverse ethnic groups living in the unspoiled rural areas, encompassing Nepal’s most popular hill stations: Chisapani, Nagarkot, and Dhulikhel, where various categories of lodges and hotels are available.

The trail is a moderate no fuss trek, with distances lasting six to seven hours each day on mainly undulating terrain with a few long climbs. This is a low altitude trek which does not elevate to more than 2,500m and therefore should not create any problems with altitude related illnesses. You will need a good level of fitness and stamina to complete the full distance. The daily treks can be easily done in individual parts, a day or two at a time with the section(s) of your choice, or as a five day trek. The KVCTT trek can be attempted with or without a guide, as all you need is the itinerary and a good map. However, if you do not want to trek alone you can arrange for a guide or a trekking package from one of Kathmandu’s many registered trekking agencies. The rich tapestry of the cultural heritage of Nepal is synthesized in the Kathmandu valley as well as further closest religious and cultural destination. The ancient cities of the valley – Kathmandu, Patan, Bhaktapur, Kirtipur, Chovar and Dakshinkali represent an epitome of harmony in urban design, elegant architecture and refined culture. The three main historic cities of Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur with numerous, old palaces and place squares, shrines and temples, angles traditions and legends make it a veritable living museum. The Kathmandu valley boasts seven World Heritage Sites UNESCO within a radius of just 20km.

Annapurna Trekking

Annapurna Base Camp Trek
Annapurna Base Camp Trek
"Nepal Visitors is a Small group adventure travel which has pioneered responsible tourism practises in Nepal".

A great Himalayan range of Annapurna (8091m.) lies In the western part of Nepal. Southern flank gets the highest precipitation of rainfalls, making the land very fertile and inhabitant by different ethnic groups. The Southern flank of Annapurna is the most popular trekking route, which passes through several beautiful villages and spectacular view points, leading to North of Modi Khola valley and up the canyon between Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhare. The inhabitants of this area are mostly the Gurungs, one of the ethnic groups. Our adventure trip to the Annapurna Sanctuary begins from Pokhara, a scenic spot. Our trek combines with the spectacular mountain scenery with incredible ethnic and cultural diversity and traverses through very strange locales. The Gurung villages en route are particularly colorful and absolutely you can expect to meet strange but friendly and welcoming ethnic people.

Nepal’s most popular trek begins at the lakeside town of Pokhara and leads six or seven days north-west around the Annapurna Massif, through dramatic changes in landscape, climate and culture to the high village of Jomsom, near the isolated land of Mustang. Trekkers often continue on to the sacred shrine of Muktinath, near the 5,415?meter Thorang-La pass and down into the lovcted by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project, tucked beneath the southern slopes of the Annapurna Massif. Annapurna Base camp trek is an easy trek from Pokhara and takes one through some of Nepal’s most lovely rhododendron forests to the Annapurna base camp. There are also numerous one or two day treks out of Pokhara town, where one can have views of Dhaulagiri, the Annapurna range, Manaslu and Ganesh Himal.

Annapurna Trekking is very popular trekking area in Nepal. A very commonly heard name is the ‘Around Annapurna Trek’ and based on sheer numbers of trekkers visiting, this is certainly the most popular. As the name suggests, the centre piece of this part of Nepal is the range of mountains that includes Annapurna I, the first of the 8000m peaks to be climbed. Also included in this region is another 8000m giant, Dhaulagiri, which is located west of Annapurna I. Between these two mountains lies the valley of the Kali-Gandaki River, the deepest gorge in the world. Views of lush, fertile farmland and stands of undisturbed natural forest, snow covered mountains and encounters with a mixture of many ethnic communities all add up to a diverse range of experiences that makes this area one of the most satisfying trekking destinations in Nepal.

The Annapurna Trekking of Nepal is a land so gorgeous, it’s long been the ultimate dream for adventurers from all over the world.  Here, the sacred peaks of Annapurna, Machapuchare and Dhaulagiri, shining with snow year round, tower over ancient rhododendron forests, icy rivers, and temperate jungles where tigers still roam. Annapurna region Trekking passes through some of the most spectacular scenery in the country, with deep valleys and close up views of mountains over 26,000ft (8,000m) tall, ancient stone settlements, Tibetan culture, and Buddhist temples and monasteries. Excellent lodges line the main routes of the legendary Annapurna Circuit which is one of the most exceptional trekking routes on earth, crossing Thorong-La pass at 17,769ft (5,416m). Easily accessible via a short flight from Pokhara or Kathmandu, Jomson, a town along the Annapurna Circuit, is situated between two gigantic mountains in the Kali Gandaki Valley, at the bottom of the world’s deepest gorge. From Jomsom there are options to go in either direction along the Circuit – the trail to the holy shrine at Muktinath is very popular and follows the ancient trade and pilgrimage route across the Himalayas.

The fact that the Annapurna chain of mountains lies inland causes a large chunk of land to fall in the rain shadow area. Hence these parts are considerably drier than the southern slopes of the mountains. This leads to unusually diverse landscapes and the possibility of trekking during the monsoon.
